The first time I opened a Bite Beauty Maple Matte Crème lipstick ($28 CAD), I was dreaming of pancakes! When they said these lipsticks were infused with the scent of maple, they weren’t kidding. Of the 5 limited edition, Canadian-exclusive shades, I grabbed the two on the warmer side – Warmed and Braised.

WARMED MAPLE is a yellow-toned orange.

I thought Neon Orange was the most orange-y lipstick I had, but I was wrong! Warmed Maple is a true orange. It’s not too vibrant or bright and I feel it would work with almost everyone’s skintone.

The formula is extremely creamy and soft, containing Japanese silica to make your lips feel like velvet. It’s not, however, matte… not really at all.

Paired with a peach shade on my eyes, I think this really works!

BRAISED MAPLE is warm brick red with orange undertones.

What a beautiful shade and a great alternative to a classic red. This reminds me of the 90s!

Like Warmed Maple, this is super rich and creamy… and still not matte.

This was the shade I knew I had to have since the first sneak preview back in February. I just want to live in this lipstick (and now I also want pancakes).

Overall, this is yet another Bite lipstick that I have fallen for. Even though these aren’t nearly matte, I still love the way they look and feel. Plus, that maple smell is to die for.

The Bite Beauty Lip Lab Limited Release Crème Deluxe Lipstick Shade for August is called Sweet Mandarin. This sold out in about 2 days, but I have some comparisons down below that are close(ish).

Shade 008 (Sweet Mandarin) is described as a bright, balanced orange.

It goes on the lips smooth and even, no streaking or feathering, which is similar to almost all of the lipsticks in this formula. It’s also really hydrating, although not at all transferproof (I got lipstick all over my brunch today).

It’s a nice balance in between the red coral of Toxic Tale and the yellow undertones of Neon Orange. I’d say if you’re looking to dupe this shade grab Neon Orange and add a touch of red.

My fave look with this lipstick is pairing it with a warm burgundy eye look. Since the orange is so balanced (not too warm OR cool) you can really mix it with anything and it looks nice on practically all skintones.

If you’re an avid Sephora shopper like me, you probably have a stockpile of points you don’t know what to do with (especially since most of us didn’t snag an “epic reward”). Luckily, Bite Beauty has come along with an ongoing series of limited edition trios for only 250 Sephora points!

From August to October, Bite Beauty will be releasing a new shade straight from the Lip Lab in the form of a 250 pt reward! This month’s shade is Bellini and the little kit includes a mini lipstick, a lipgloss (possibly full size?) and a mirror.

Look how cute! This is the same size of lipstick as the original VIB Rouge ones.

Bellini is a beautiful, well-balanced hot pink with a luxe, creamy finish.

There is a bit of a cool undertone to this pink, and it is extremely hydrating without being too slippery. It doesn’t transfer too much and leaves a bit of a pink stain behind.

I’m pretty excited about this shade, although it’s not totally original and probably dupeable, but who doesn’t need a little lipstick in their purse or work desk?

The Bite Beauty Lush Fruit Lip Gloss is one of my favourite formulas. It’s not tacky or sticky and has a beautiful fruit scent to it. This moisturizes and leaves my lips feeling very soft.

This took a bit of effort to even out but I love the colour it leaves behind.

Just a nice high-shine hot pink!

The included mirror is the size of a large button and is essentially the same construction as one only with a mirror on the back instead of a fastener. Pretty cute for pockets and purses!

Spiced Apple is the name of this month’s Bite Beauty Lip Lab Limited Release Crème Deluxe Lipstick ($40 CAD). And guess what? It is STILL available to purchase. I received my monthly lipstick in a record time of one day, and I am so excited I get to review it and encourage you to buy at the same time!

SPICED APPLE is described as deep, cherry red. I knew this month would be deeper and sexier than previous months. It’s getting cooler, we’re looking towards fall and, for me, it’s red carpet season! (and yes I dropped this before and dented its pretty little head)

Instead of looking for dupes, I decided to do a comparison of a few Bite Beauty shades I already have, including my own custom Lip Lab shade.

The finish is super high-shine and extremely pigmented. This is so rich and hydrating it feels like a balm. It’s not transfer-proof but also not messy.

This shade, though! It’s a bit deeper than a classic cool red, and still wearable for day time. Spiced Apple will definitely make an appearance pn my lips at the Toronto Film Festival this month.

Although this month’s Sephora 250 pt perk from Bite Beauty has been online and instore for awhile, I took my time placing an order and picking up the Mimosa trio. Thankfully I was able to grab it before it disappeared, so if you like what you see run don’t walk to your nearest Sephora!

Mimosa is described as a warm red that is just slightly more warm than a true neutral red. It’s not necessarily unique but it is a shade that will flatter a lot of skin tones. Compared to Maraschino, Mimosa is a bit lighter and has less red. It’s similar to the Bite Beauty Lip Lab LE shade from March, just a hint warmer and brighter (and the formula isn’t as glossy/creamy).

For someone that doesn’t really love lip gloss, I find the Lush Fruit Gloss from Bite really quite nice. It has a sweet wild berry scent and isn’t tacky.

But like all gloss, it tends to migrate up into the fine lines in my lips (damn my younger self for being a smoker!)

Mimosa in gloss form leans a bit more pink, mostly because of my natural lip shade. It has a nice berry stain feel to it.

These mini lipsticks are adorable (and really pointy).

The Luminous Creme formula is creamy and has a mid-glossy sheen to it, but it is not nearly as hydrating as the Creme Deluxe we get with the monthly Lip Lab LE shades.

You can see the formula sets down to an almost matte (this is after 5 minutes). It reminds me of MAC’s satin formula. I’m diggin’ on this shade, are you?

DID YOU GRAB THIS POINT PERK?

As fate would have it, this month’s Bite Beauty Lip Lab Limited Release lipstick shade launched on my birthday, so of course I had to get it! It was meant to be, the shade is PURPLE!

Shade 010 – Boysenberry is described as a blue-toned violet.

This sits in between Violetta and Pure Heroine, shown above swatched 2x.

The formula is extremely creamy without having too much slip. I didn’t have any trouble at all getting even colour and it didn’t feather or bleed whatsoever. Wear time is a bit less than average as it is a hydrating cream colour.

Of all the Lip Lab shades I have so far, this is probably in my top 3! Did you grab Boysenberry?

Every year, BITE releases a highly coveted set of lip crayons for the holidays. This year, the Best Bite Rewind set ($29 CAD, $25 USD) has twist-up matte creme lip crayons in four amazing shades, only one of which is a permanent colour.

A little bit about these crayons: they are water-resistant and longwearing matte crayons that are hydrating and good for your lips! They contains orange peel wax and resveratrol to keep your lips in shape, and they contain NO bad stuff like parabens or sulfates. These are even gluten-free!

Cafe is a peachy brown nude.

This was the first one I tried out and I was surprised at has smooth these were, simply gliding over the lips while creating a crisp lip line. The shade itself is a nice nude that leans a little pink on me.

Torte is a brown-toned rose.

This shade is my favourite of the set because not only is it really versatile and good for everyday, but it’s the perfect shade for me to overdraw my lips a bit without looking too crazy.

Coulis is a raspberry red.

A really nice pinky red that settles down to a creamy matte texture and does not feather on me (which is a big deal). The best part about these crayons is they make it easy to wear deeper, bolder colours that can often be intimidating to apply. I had no trouble creating a nice lip line and making it look even.

Aubergine, a permanent shade, is an eggplant purple.

Another beautiful shade that was easy to apply! This one I felt had a bit more of a shine/slip to it but still wore for well over 5 hours and didn’t feather at all.

Like last year and the year before, the little Bite tin is probably one of my favourite value sets of the season. Whether you keep it for yourself or even split it up as gifts, these lip crayons are worth it!

WHAT SHADE IS YOUR FAVOURITE?

The last of the Bite Beauty Lip Lab Trio 250 pt Rewards for Sephora is in a beautiful shade for the Fall weather, Kir Royale. I’ll be sad to see this monthly tradition go and hope something takes its place (since I have over 2,000 pts to spare).

Described as a bold berry wine, this really embraces the cooler weather and makes me want to dig through my collection and pull out all my burgundy shades.

If you’ve never used a Bite Beauty Lush Fruit Gloss, you’re in for a treat. It has a nice fruity scent, a sweet taste (not that you’re eating it but taste matters with gloss), and the formula is glossy but not tacky.

Kir Royale in a gloss settles down to a beautiful sheer wine shade.

This only feathered a little bit which is impressive for gloss. I have a few deeper lip lines, so I can’t often wear gloss.

Kir Royale in Luminous Creme lipstick is so beautiful. It’s opaque, pigmentented and totally luxe.

The Bite Beauty Luminous Creme formula is so damn smooth and hydrating without being messy or getting all over your face. It is probably one of my favourite non-matte lipsticks.

Kir Royale is such a pretty wine shade that I will probably finish this mini lipstick up in the next month. I am even considering grabbing the full size!

Brow side note: I had my first tattoo session a few weeks ago. It was a very, very light airbrush technique and although I still need 2 more sessions and I have to darken them with pencil I am SO happy with the shape. If you ever wanted to get yours done, check out Pretty in the City in Toronto.

Bite Beauty Mauvember is a beautiful rosy mauve.

The Luminous Crème formula is 100% natural, using Organic fruit butters and Resveratrol. This is rich, creamy and very pigmented. It goes on smooth, with a tiny bit of slip, and it wears for an above average time.

I pulled out what I thought would be close comparisons to Mauvember but NOPE. This shade is unique in my lipstick wardrobe!

SWISS CHOCOLATE is a deep brown with red undertones.

I went through my 50+ stash of MAC lipsticks (plus another 50 or so from other brands) and could not find anything close. So instead, here’s a comparison of two other Bite shades! It’s pretty close to the January shade but deeper and more brown. The finish is a little slippery, like Shade 01 too, but not nearly as bad.

Seriously though, this mahogany shade is so unique and gorgeous. And as always, the finish is a dream.

Number of compliments I received while wearing this shade = 3. I freakin’ love it and plan on wearing it a lot this season.

It’s a wrap! Shade 012, Sugar Plum, marks the end of my new favourite monthly tradition that is the Bite Beauty Lip Lab LR lipsticks. I really enjoyed grabbing a new deluxe lipstick every month in a shade I may or may not have gravitated towards. From reds to oranges to really light lilacs, it’s been an adventure!

Shade 012 – Sugar Plum
Described as a festive pink-red.

And since Bite Beauty has re-released all of their limited lipsticks, here’s a comparison of three in this shade range. Sugar Plum reminds me a lot of MAC Moxie, it’s in between a hot pink and a fire engine red.

The formula is, like all the other Crème Deluxe Lipsticks, highly pigmented and extremely creamy. In fact, I’d say this was one of the best formulations of the lot!

The shine on this one is really intense, but there is little to no slippage. This didn’t feather nor did it end up all over my morning coffee. After a few hours when I decided to wipe it off, it left a nice cool-toned red stain.

When Bite Beauty announced they would discontinue their beloved Luminous Creme lipstick, we were all heartbroken. But lucky for us, they had bigger things planned with the new Amuse Bouche lipstick!

A collection of high-impact lipsticks in dimensional shades that have been handcrafted to deliver extreme moisture, soft texture, and creamy wear.

The Amuse Bouche lipstick ($30 CAD/$26 USD) has a similar formula to the Luminous Creme, it’s opaque, emollient, pigmented and hydrating . But something about it just feels different, richer, more luxurious. It comes in over 30 shades and has a different scent to it, I think it’s citrus?

The shade I grabbed first was a bit outside my comfort zone. (What? Not purple???) Molasses is described as a rich toffee and to me it’s the perfect warm 90s brown.

This goes on the lips smooth and silky, opaque in one swipe and it stays even all day. No feathering or smearing. And it even looks like it smoothed out the texture of my lips a bit!

If you have fair skin, like me, you may be afraid of warm or brown shades… but don’t be. These can be just as flattering as pinks and purples. Molasses is well-balanced and not too far into the “orange” spectrum. Paired with a peachy-brown eye look, this just worked out perfectly, didn’t it?

The Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipsticks are available at Sephora now!

After falling in love with Bite Beauty’s new Amuse Bouche lipstick formula, I had to pick up another shade… and this time I went for purple!

Spritzer is described as a plum rose. It has the familiar Bite lettermark imprinted on the tip and it has the same citrus-y scent as the other shade I tried.

The formula is ultra-rich and creamy. It feels like a second skin on my lips and glides over any imperfections. It has very little slip though, just a sort of thicker cream texture.

The shade is extremely flattering too. In indirect light it picks up a sort of blue hue, but in direct light (as shown in the prior photo) it is more of a rose shade.

This is almost a cooler version of MAC’s Up the Amp with a creamier texture.

Compared to Bite’s now discontinued Luminous Creme formula, I’d say the Amuse Bouche feels a bit more rich and luxe. And there are over 30 shades to choose from, so I have a lot more to go… I think I’ll grab Black Truffle next?

As you probably know, I am pretty obsessed with Bite Beauty. This Toronto-based lip company has taken the beauty world by storm, most recently with the release of their Amuse Bouche lipstick line. Now I have something even more exciting, six new limited edition shades just for summer, called the “Sweet & Savoury” collection.

The “Sweet” side has three shades: Lavender Jam, Taro and Thistle.

Lavender Jam is described as an electric-blue violet.

Formulation and consistency are on par with other Amuse Bouche lipsticks I have tried. Lots of pigmentation and very, very creamy without any slip.

The shade reminds me of NYX Liquid Suede in Sway. It’s cool and a very pretty purple. I think I need to add a bit more pink to my skin to make it work though.

Taro is described as amethyst with grey undertones.

This leans a bit warmer on me than most (because of the existing warmth in my lips). It is gorrrgeous.

It’s like Jeffree Star’s Scorpio only a bit warmer. Same consistency and creaminess as Lavender Jam, maybe even a bit more pigmented.

Thistle is described as a mauve-infused taupe.

This is probably the most beautiful cool-toned nude I own. Super pigmented, creamy and flattering.

For someone with fair skin, finding a nude lip is pretty tough, but I think this one WINS.

Edit: YESSS swatches finally! Sorry it took so long. I decided to show how these compare to some others I have in my collection.

Now onto the “Savoury” side of things: Kale, Squid Ink and Whiskey.

Kale is described as a deep hunter green with black.

This is gorgeous! And for a dark shade, it’s surprisingly even and not patchy at all (take note, MAC).

Not sure how I feel about it on though, it kind of washed me out. But this shade is so different and unique, I still love it.

Squid Ink is described as deep navy with black.

Just like Kale, this one goes on smooth and even. This is great for a modern goth look, and oddly enough, I have more than one navy lip shade in my collection.

I love it! It’s almost black but just a hint of midnight. I think I’ll pair this with some heavier blush next time.

Whiskey is described as a rich mahogany with red.

Now who doesn’t love a vampy burgundy lip? I love this because it has a touch of brown to it and really brings back the 90s for me.

Yep, this one’s a stunner!

Just proving I do have more than one green AND blue in my collection. And that Whisky shade is very, very close to Swiss Chocolate.

If you were lucky enough to get your hands on the Bite Beauty holiday 2016 gift sets or Gold Crème Lip Gloss, you’ll understand why these sold out at Sephora online so fast. But no worries, a lot of stores still have stock AND almost everything here is part of the permanent collection!

Let’s start with The Perfect Bite Amuse Bouche Lipstick set. This contains four very mini lipsticks (think… those 250 pt perks from last year). $25 USD gets you four creamy, pigmented lipsticks that are all permanent shades.

1x swatches of each. Damn I love this formula.

But as you can see this are teeny weeny lipsticks. Be careful not to press too hard or the tube will break a bit.

Fig is described as a nude rose.

This is the perfect hint of creamy nude pink. Not too light, not too dark.

Pepper is described as a dusty rose. The shade actually leans a bit more taupe as shown below.

Look how pretty this shade is!

Honeycomb is described as a beige nude.

I don’t love this nude on me, as a matter of fact I don’t love most nudes. This is a bit too close to my skintone. (OMG you can tell I don’t love this shade because of my face)

Nori is described as a deep brown red.

I wore this to my company holiday party and got so many compliments. (Also how much do you love the colour of my crushed velvet Zara dress???)

Every year, Bite releases a tin of matte lip crayons… and every year I buy it.

The Bite Redux set contains three permanent shades and one LE. If you haven’t used these before, they are twist-up creamy crayons that are described as matte but are more semi-matte.

1x swatches. ALL GORGEOUS.

Fraise is described as a jewel red. Again, the ring light made this shade seem brighter than it is.

This is, no surprise, a strawberry red that is bright and bold and beautiful.

Orchid is a bright purple pink that is only available in this set.

Of course my fave of the set is a limited shade. OF. COURSE.

Red Velvet is described as a deep rich, red.

This is a cross between an oxblood and a classic red. It’s a bit different than most reds I have and it is stunning.

Truffle is described as a deep brown.

This looks better from far away but was a little uneven close up (which could be from my current chapped lip situation).

Can we just take a minute to swoon over the Gold Crème Lip Gloss? I first swatched this on my trip to NYC and should have picked it up then. It sold out quickly and I had to track it down. It’s limited edition, friends… grab this one now!

This is one swatch naked and one swatch over Nori. This is not gritty but is a bit tacky.

Double layers over my red chapped lips. This is festive and fun and fabulous!

I didn’t have the nerve to wear this out but I will… maybe New Year’s.

Known for their lipsticks made with food-grade natural ingredients, Bite Beauty has finally released 22 shades of lip pencils!

These creamy and highly pigmented pencils are made with whipped shea butter and set in an “artisanal” wood barrel casing. I did notice a slight difference in the wood compared to regular lip pencils with a similar format; these sharpen up perfectly with no loose shavings or uneven tips.

The two shades I received from Influenster were 020 (Beige Nude) and 044 (Rich Mahogany). I also received two mini lipsticks to pair with each. These are really creamy and soft, so much so that the 044 shade bent and the tip snapped off while I was swatching.

Here’s shade #020 lining my lips with the Amuse Bouche lipstick in Honeycomb on top. The pencil applied smooth and it was easy to get a sharp line. Even though I scrubbed ahead of time, my lips are a bit dry around the edges, but the pencil still kind of glided right over dry patches.

Shade #044 is a gorgeous deep blood burgundy. Not sure I would describe it as a mahogany like Bite did though. When paired with Whiskey, which is a very deep mahogany shade, you can see how red and wine-coloured this pencil is, and I think it would pair very well with Bite Nori lipstick. That being said, this pencil is amazing. I am terrible at lining my lips and this pencil made it easy.

So it’s barely October and holiday kits are already hitting store shelves. The Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lip Set was the first one I grabbed this year because I’m a bit addicted to Bite products and this set is only $26 CAD, a fantastic value!

The set comes with 4 shades of Bite’s Amuse Bouche Liquid lipstick, a creamy fruit-infused opaque lipstick that feels amazing on the lips. This hydrating formula (that smells like gummy bears) is made with castor seed, coconut oil, vanilla, grapeseed and the magic ingredient Resveratrol (an antioxidant found in red wine).

Whip is described as a blushed beige.

Nude lipsticks usually pull either too warm or too cool on me, but this one is just right. It was opaque in one swipe too!

Flambe is described as a vivid poppy.

This shade was all over social media during the product launch because it was in a Influenster kit, and it’s been on my wishlist ever since. It’s bold and bright and cheery.

Braised is described as a deep scarlet.

I actually have this shade already in full-size but have used the heck out of it so why not get a back up? This is a bit of a unique shade for me as it isn’t really bright or vampy, just sort of a mid-tone warm red.

Demi-Glace is described as a chocolate mauve.

Now I’ve had my eye on this one since launch. It’s like the perfect 90s brown shade for me. I love it!

Bite Beauty Mauvember Liquified Lip ($28 CAD)
The newest formula from Bite Beauty, the Liquified lip is creamy, pigmented and packed with resveratrol to keep lips looking plump and hydrated.

This formula is thick but not goopy. It doesn’t sink into lines and was easy, peasy to get a sharp lip line. And this shade is to die for… probably my fave lipstick of the moment.

Bite Beauty Mauvember Multistick ($28 CAD)
This is actually the first Multistick I have tried and I’m into it! This matte formula is creamy and smooth, easy to blend. You can use it on your eyes (although I probably won’t), your cheeks and your lips.

Because of the rounded edges, it’s a bit tough to get a sharp lip line straight from the tube. The formula is creamy and hydrating. It doesn’t sink into lip lines and feels really great on. This dries down to a semi-matte on the lips and sorta, almost full matte on the cheeks (depending on your foundation and setting powder/mist).

Shown here with Multistick on my lips topped with a bit of the Liquified. I used the Multistick on my cheeks and slowly built it up and blended with a BeautyBlender. The shade stayed ALL DAY, even more than my foundation. Love this stuff!

And since I have the entire Mauvember family, I decided to dig out 2016 and 2015 to show you a comparison. This year’s shades are a bit warmer, pinker. My fave colour is still 2015’s cool-toned purple but ALL ARE AMAZING.
